The short version
The handicap and course handicap calculator on this site runs entirely in your browser. The rounds, scores, ratings, and results you enter are never sent to, or stored on, any server — they exist only on your device for the duration of your visit, and disappear when you close or reload the page. We have no database of user scores and no way to see what you've entered.
The rest of this policy covers the small amount of technical data that's collected around that calculator — mainly standard web server logs, and cookies related to advertising once this site carries ads.
Who we are
MyHandicapCalc (myhandicapcalc.com) is an independently run golf handicap calculator. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of the R&A, the USGA, or any golf club or federation.

What data we collect
We collect as little as possible. Specifically:
- Calculator inputs (scores, ratings, results): not collected at all. All calculations happen client-side, in JavaScript running in your browser. Nothing you type into the calculator is transmitted anywhere.
- Standard server/hosting logs: like virtually all websites, our hosting provider automatically logs basic technical request data (such as IP address, browser type, and page requested) for security and reliability purposes. This is standard infrastructure logging, not something we actively review or use to identify individuals, and it is not linked to any account because this site does not have user accounts.
- Cookies: see the dedicated section below.
- Analytics: this site does not currently use any analytics service (such as Google Analytics). If that changes, this policy will be updated before any analytics cookies are set, and consent will be requested where required.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Cookies
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device to store information. We use the following categories:
- Strictly necessary cookies: a single cookie (or local storage entry) that remembers your cookie consent choice, so we don't ask you again on every visit. This is set regardless of whether you accept or decline other cookies, because it's necessary to remember your preference.
- Advertising cookies (Google AdSense): if this site displays adverts, they are served by Google AdSense. Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet. These cookies are only set if you consent via the cookie banner on this site.
- Analytics cookies: none in use at present (see above).
You can accept or decline non-essential cookies using the cookie banner shown on your first visit, and change your choice at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of any page. You can also block or delete cookies using your browser's own settings, though this may affect how parts of the site work.
Google AdSense and advertising
We intend to use Google AdSense to display advertising on this site. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.

We don't control these third parties' own data practices beyond what's described here — their own privacy policies govern how they handle data.
Your rights (UK GDPR)
Because this site collects very little personal data about you directly, most of these rights will have little for us to act on — but they still apply to whatever we do hold (for example, in server logs, or via advertising cookies you've consented to). Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- be informed about how your data is used (this policy);
- request access to any personal data we hold about you;
- request correction of inaccurate personal data;
- request erasure of your personal data ("right to be forgotten");
- restrict or object to certain processing of your personal data;
- data portability, where applicable; and
- withdraw consent at any time (for example, via "Cookie settings" in the footer) where processing is based on consent.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), if you believe your data has been mishandled.

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we add a new third-party service or change how cookies are used. Material changes will be reflected in the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
